Species: Ceratosauridae indet. (Possibly Ceratosaurus sp.) Age: Middle Jurassic (Bathonian-Oxfordian) Formation: Irhazer Group Provenance: Effonfone, Agadez, Niger Size: ±16mm (0.62") Condition: Has no repair or restorations; stabilized with Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) in acetone |
This is a listing for 1 partial but rare ceratosaurid theropod tooth. The tooth shows diagnostic ridges running down the tooth. While the denticles are worn, they are still present with a distal serration density of 7-8/3mm. Unfortunately, I don't quite understand the locale, "Effonfone" making it difficult to ascertain which formation the specimen comes from. It is possible the name was long-lost in translation.
