Species: cf. Atlasaurus imelakei (?) Age: Middle Jurassic (Bathonian-Callovian) Formation: El Mers Group Provenance: Boulahfa, Boulemane, Morocco Size: ±47.4mm (1.86") Condition: Possibly some repair, but no restorations; has unknown glue |
This is a listing for 1 fossilized tooth of a Middle Jurassic sauropod from the El Mers Group, possibly from an Atlasaurus imelakei. The morphology appears to be different from that of turiasaurians which are also found in these Jurassic deposits. This is a rare specimen from a locale that is seldom seen on the market. The tooth has been glued with an unknown adhesive in Morocco which has not been removed. It may or may not be repaired; it might, or most likely had been glued on the spot.

Atlasaurus is a basal sauropod from the from the Guettioua Formation, a deposit equivalent to that of the El Mers Group. Not to be confused with the Jurassic sauropod teeth from a mystery locale in the Talsint region which are also sold as "Atlasaurus".
